Functionally or mentally? Because functionally he's doing... decently... I mean, he's fucking/fighting Slick/Ticky Mikk from D. Gray-Man for knives and venting FEELINGS, as well as avoiding the hell out of November 11 by temporarily(?) moving into Slick's apartment. And also getting fucked up by nature. And overlapping unavoidably between Hei and Li AND his real self with certain people, which is messing him up quite a bit internally, like "oh no i introduced myself to Kohaku as Li and then promptly went out Naturing with her and sfklgnkjdf"...

BASICALLY HE NEEDS A MASK. AND THE ABILITY TO SELECTIVELY WIPE THE MEMORIES OF EVERYONE IN THUSIA. BECAUSE HE DOESN'T REMEMBER HOW TO BALANCE HIMSELF.

Uh... basically Thusia is the new Cannibal Corpse except he doesn't have to kill humans and they don't get dissected afterwards. Um... so mostly he's sliding back into that insular type mentality. You go out, you kill things, you come back, you eat, you heal, you sleep, you do it all over again. He's making a couple of connections with people, and he's ended up nearly killing someone already over... nothing as far as he can tell. So yeah, basically just like prison for him.

Senji doesn't remember his death. It's basically just a fuzzy nothingness following his fight against Mockingbird at the prison, and that's the last thing he remembers: finishing up the fight and brofisting Ganta on the rooftop. Then... nothing. What he thinks happened is that he passed out from bloodloss after that and fell of the roof. That's embarrassing so he's never brought up that theory again. Eventually canon will either give me an actual death for him, or I'll have him hit with a bus after the series ends. :|a

I apped him as the fight against Toto was going on and really did think it was going to kill him, so I asked and received permission to do a one time update if and when he ever dies in canon. :|a We'll see how it turns out eventually.

Senarios: what happens if Hei isn't able to find balance with his masks?

Wow this guy is kind of a prick. OH OKAY KILLER. woah he gets the black/white side thing. Sort of. THE SEX IS NICE... I GUESS... Cigarettes and apartments and LASERS. LASERS. Tsuntasing. Why are you so ridiculous. Why do you make me feel things. Goddamnit why am I telling you about things.

BASICALLY SLICK DISARMS HEI. A LOT. A WHOLE LOT. The combination of Ticky's understanding of the duality thing, weird... honesty... things...., and the physical stuff leaves Hei kind of. Reeling. A lot. Because Slick can and does piss him off, can take him on and best him in a fight, is still willing to help and at least pretend to be a little concerned while simultaneously being totally okay with digging his claws into Hei's wounds and letting him fuck himself up further. The sexual stuff is TOTALLY NEW TO HEI and he is floundering a lot, there, but it's obvious they both enjoy it, so there's something like closeness, there. At the same time, the fighting and biting and zaps and lasers are very satisfying. ALSO SLICK MANAGES TO BE SILLY ENOUGH TO MAKE HEI LAUGH. HONESTLY LAUGH. WHILE BEING 'BLACK', for lack of a better term. And yeah, Hei has a sense of humor even in his 'black' form, but it's usually pretty dark. The only times we ever see it in canon when he echos Wei after their first fight, with the whole "You're fast, but not fast enough" line.

S-so yes, Slick manages to drag a lot of Hei's actual SELF/honest reactions out in the open, and it's confusing as hell. But he still likes Slick. Not that he'll admit it.

I am working on that Rayflo app and it already has twelve bullets in the pre-powercap abilities section. Why do I feel like this is too little, and do you have any suggestions I might be missing because unable to access actual manga right now?

He's just as fucked up as he is in canon, I guess... Honestly a lot of his development in canon is him trying and FAILING to balance himselves, until he gets topped in his own headspace by all his dead canonmates that are like IF YOU CAN'T MAKE A CHOICE JUST BE BOTH YOU SHITHEAD. BRIDGE THE GAAAP.

I took him from the canonpoint directly after said topping, but he. Got into Thusia and promptly started ignoring their advice because. Because Hei. And Stubborn. And changed situations apparently mean ignoring the advice of everyone he ever cared about...

Yeah. It's length capped basically. He can only extend the blades about 6 ft or so. He can also only use the Invisible Black a few times before he's down for the count. And of course the general impetus of he can't cut things in half at whim and has to gain some damage from fights he goes out on alone.

The other major cap is the same one he has in canon. He only has so much blood in his body and while he can push himself to insanely stupid points, he's eventually going to go down and go down hard when he no longer has enough blood to pump through his veins.

What kind of abilities does Hei have?

Hei is, purely physically, strong enough and fast enough and crafty enough that he lasted years in a war full of super-powered people out to kill him, when he was still only human. This is including people who can, say, blow things up with their minds. His weapons of choice are double-bladed tuning-fork-esque knives, and lengthy, tough wires with clips on the ends. These can be used so he can swing around like Batman, as well as being handy for, say, trapping people. Or strangling them. Or hanging them from the branches of trees.

THESE PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES BECAME SUPER HANDY WHEN HE GOT POWERS. Hei's ability is, basically, manipulation of electricity. He's a human taser. Direct contact, or contact through conductive materials (such as, say, his wires. or knives. or a car. or water. or ice.) means he can deliver a shock more than strong enough to kill a man, or several, in one go. He can, of course, limit the strength of the shock, such as when he knocked out a teammate. It's also good for, say, cracking super high tech electronic locks, and so on.
